Sometimes I wish that I wasn't sent here. At times I wish I never should have agreed with my father and stick to my own grounds instead.

Asking What ifs doesn't change the fact that five and a half regretable years have already passed by and I am left with barely a year until I graduate. The next step - internship - the phase of which determines if you can handle the pressure of being a lowly intern before becoming a doctor.

This place doesn't prepare us much for the next step. Which is why I'm worried out of whatever's left of my withered wits.

I discovered today that Dom Knigi (House of Books) are selling books in ENGLISH!

I went there today with the sole purpose of finding an English-Russian Medical Dictionary. Up the stairs, turn left and when I was about to enter the main books section, something in my peripheral view caught my eye. 3 tall shelves full of English books. Hallelujah!

Okay, first reaction. I thought the books are from unknown or unpopular author because the books at my eye level was from a science fiction genre. Looked up, lo and behold, Chuck Palahniuk reigns. Instantly, I was internally combusting. I had to refrain myself from squealing and running around with arms awaving in the air. Grabbed "Fight Club" because there's only that and "Diary" - which I already have (courtesy from Teah, ILU!) Not only that, there are books from Sophie Kiensella (total chic lit that I wonder if I should try reading), Dean Koontz, John Grisham, Stephen King, and some other popular writers.. etcetera etcetera... And they even sell some books from some of the acclaimed Russian authors like Vladimir Nabokov...

So I bought Nabokov's Lolita for 394 rubles (yes, I know it's kinda perverted, but it's a famous classic! and I'm a big girl, so there!) and Fight Club for 393 rub. Worth it? Yea ah!

They didn't have the medical dictionary though, but it was worth my money. Initially, I wanted to buy a top to spoil myself after browsing for medical books. But know this my friends -

How do you feel when someone throws you a sexist remark by calling you a Nurse, when you are now studying to become a doctor?

No offense, there is nothing wrong with nurses - I respect all careers - but I don't understand is why someone have to undermine others by categorizing them intellectually into mere professions. Why? In the medical field, are women only fit to become nurses? And men, becoming doctors? Or are you implying that just because someone appear ditzy or clumsy in people's impression, you think intellectually the person is as stupid as he/she looks. So you deduce that he/she are only fit to become nurses.

You know who you are, you CHAUVINISTIC PIG. You have gone far enough throwing inappropriate sexist remarks in front of an esteemed doctor and our colleagues, nonetheless. And this is not the first time either. Next time, I won't be so forgiving.

Moscow trip was exhilarating. Went to a lot of places. Took a lot of pictures. Saw a lot of things.

For valentines, Mr. Valentine gave me a rose and brought me to our favorite restaurant. I know this will sound corny, but this is my first time celebrating Valentine's Day appropriately. Though it wasn't much, it was everything I had hoped for.

I fell flat on my butt the other day going down the stairs and my right elbow hit the hard concrete. It bruised and swelled up a bit. The picture below didn't show the bruise too well... Ho well... Teah, I always love the Brand New shirt that you gave me last summer.

I have long last finished my 5th year 1st semester exams: Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Social medicine and Otorhinolaryngology (E.N.T). On time! (Well actually this month I only have to sit for the last two, but the last exam was tough hokay!)

You can never see me studying on the table before. Ever. This was taken during E.N.T study session. See Netter's human anatomy book sprawled front of me. And imagine the neck and back pain that forced me out of my post onto the dreaded study table.

I found a plant sprout in the crevices of the kitchen sink. I find it cute, amidst the dirt and grime of the dirty stainless steel sink.
I can't wait to go to Moscow this 5th February! With good companionship!

Today as I went out and passed by my university, I saw a fleet of fire engines in front of the university compound. I was astounded to see firemen dragged fire hoses out of the main door. I didn't see anything wrong from outside so I figured that fire broke out somewhere inside the building. But then, it might have been a fire drill.

A fleet of fire engines don't just park themselves in the university compound for just a fire drill now do they? Wondered what happened...

I'm having Russian class cycle last week, and I attended to only 2 classes. 2 syllables: MA-LAS.
Currently having Internal disease cycle and we're required to do 'doctor's duty' after class for 3 academic hours. Ergo, my whole day will be devoted to the hospital and I'm gonna return home hungry and tired. Though, I think it will be a good thing for me to practice clerking the patients.

I am blessed. I am extremely happy. And I am complete.
What more can I say?

Wish I got the time to write everything that had happened since the last post. Too bad, cause I don't have the time and credit to upload pictures now. Gotta fly!... to class now.

I was looking at my own eyes through a hand-held mirror and I discovered that both my pupils dilate and constrict in an irregular rhythm under a steady, uniform, non-flickering light. And I was mesmerized, I didn't move an inch. Does that even suppose to happen?

Selamat Hari Raya! Forgive and forget, kan? Kan.

Finally did my last exam for 4th year Therapy, on the first day of Syawal. I had a short class, went to exam. Hope I pass it, cause I can't bear to think about sitting for it again soon.

On the eve of raya, Jazly and I cooked kuah kacang, ayam rendang, begedil, soto and nasi impit all from scratch. Simple dishes, but it was worth it. Had dinner the next day with Nishan, Darshla and their new lobbymate Zan. Had fun, shared stories, laughed so hard. Seriously, I don't know what to do without friends. Oh, and Icey. Had fun playing against him in scrabble yesterday. I feel good playing against a person who knows how to play scrabble by the rules (unlike some people *uhuk*) And I won! Yay! Good game...

Need to catch up on the curriculum, I haven't done a single summer elective examination because I lost the elective record book and had to get a new one. Have to finish up writing assignment for pediatrics by hand, finish up the summer elective diary log. I have to study up (a storm!) for pediatrics finals this saturday, finish up my atrabotka for E.N.T (because the atrabotka is tough!).. blah blah..

Raya is no fun without family and friends. Family, most important. Without them raya is like any other day. I miss them

Finally tasted the infamous burgers from American Saloon in Green. A wee bit pricey for a burger, but oh well, what to do? That's the only joint which make proper burgers ever sold in Kursk town. Sad, but true. True, and delicious. Yum.

Yesterday night, went out to eat in Tolstyak. Ate their pizzas which I absolutely love...to eat. Strolled along Lenin street in high heels (practicing for Raya function next week .. haha), adoring the night lights of Kursk, cooing starry-eyed at expensive motorcycle totting dudes speed racing from one end of Lenin street to the other *sigh*... I wish the weather would stay this way.

Can you imagine a world without burgers?

The meat from this sandwich is real steak. Nyaaaaaa~ The meat hits the spot. Yeah, the spot right between the crevices of my gums where my wisdom tooth is growing.

I'm back in Kursk. Seriously, I felt like bawling my eyes out leaving my family behind. Even lining up forhe check in were fun. My brothers and I talk about everything like we always do. Miss them!

Ugh... I can't send messages to brunei or singapore number I dunno why and It's frustrating.

whaat's even frustrating is when I open the door to my room I was greeted by a potential heap of mess. I don't know how my roomate lives like this. And just today I decided to rearrange the room myself. Screw help. If my romate doesnt like the new arangement then she should just bear with it till she graduates. Nak harapkan dia entah bile boleh siap rearrange.

my first cycle was Psychiatry in rural Iskra. It started last monday and obviously i didn't go until the 5th day. Although, I find psychiatry interesting. The teacher told us that the reason why the facility is in faraway rural area is because they house the sociaplly dangerous people 0.0 (and to prevent them from escaping too far) And next year we're gonna see the patients and some, behind locked doors.. eeeeee-- exciting!

At the age of 21, I am receiving wisdom. From teeth! Okay, bad pun. I started noticing a little enamel peeking out from my gum behind my molars since last year and they didn't concern me much because they don't interfere with my daily life. And I knew I am a candidate for wisdom teeth because 1) the former statement 2) my mom and her side of her family all get wisdom teeth. Shkashi! they ended up removing them all because growing and owning them are unbearably painful.

As of now, I am currently having growing pains. From growing wisdom. Teeth. On my upper left side. My headaches been flaring from the left parietal ever since and worsen when I packed my stuff and trying to keep them from over 30kg.

Stresssssss..... I can't chew too much. How la wanna eat barbecued lamb chop tomorrow?! @.@

This is our family cat. Sort of. He's a stray but lately he comes around to our house for food. And for affection of which we happily oblige.

His name is Tiger. Aptly named for his Bengal stripes.

But I call him Tigger-happy. Why?

Because he looks happy and content just sleeping. Okay, maybe the name don't fit for such a lazy cat like him. I sometimes call him Cicak. While he sleeps. He sleeps 12 hours in a day, probably more. Huhuhu~

Today my family and I had barbecue for dinner. As usual I have to commandeer the whole squad, with my mom being the Genaral. Barbecueing is supposed to be a man's job right?! Oh, but I rocked it =p

So while preparing the food, Tigger-happy and his cute mom coined " Mak Cik Kembang" (Kembang for short) served as ~~rubbish-dispensers~~ chicken fat eliminators. T-H was too ~~full~~ tired helping us out in the kitchen that when we started the fire he was already ~~dead~~ sleeping like a log.

I'm a huge fan of anime soundtracks and they're the reason why I am still playing the piano even after almost 7 years quitting music school. My parents thought I was just too lazy to practice. In fact, they were right -- but not because I lost interest. My teacher pushed me into playing exam pieces every single lesson to prep for final exams, in the end I got fed up and bored playing the same pieces repetitively. I wanted to be able to play for fun and to be able to make music, not to enslave myself to get a music degree (though that would have been much better, but that would have just killed me)

The song Canta Per Me by Yuki Kajiura has been one of my absolute favourites. It's the song from the anime Noir. Recently I stumbled upon the orchestrated version of the song played by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra, and it sounds orgasmic (I must say because it just gave me the severe case of the goosebumps!) The whole ensemble surprisingly made me cry :s

It's not a Rastafarian hair I chopped off from a reluctant Rastafarian dude's head. Noooo~ But that would be cool (chopping off people's hair)

That is my first handmade knitted scarf and I made it by myself! (Okay, with my mom's aid and and ahe fixed a couple of loopholes, making it less shabby. But still~!)

I can knit now! I'm inspired by Vie's handmade scarfs that I asked my mom to teach me. I can still remember her knitting up a storm almost 15 years ago. She made me a pink sweater with blue stripes... and some other things. Hrm... maybe I should go hunt for it in my parent's depth less closet.... I'm surprised she still remembers the technique.

Made my first scarf all black and looooooooong because I am inspired by Jared Leto who wore one in 30 seconds to Mars video clip "Beautiful Lie". I am a sucker for Jared Leto.... *sighs dreamily* If only he loses his emo make up and emo hair.

Dad scolded me when he saw me still awake at 12 in the morning changing the astro channel in my parent's bedroom. According to him, the night is specifically for people to sleep. My excuse for staying up late: I'm preparing myself for on-call duties in the hospital.

Actually he's been berating me about my 'bad sleeping habits' because my late uncle, who was a drug addict never sleeps at night. He constantly brings this story up when he caught me still watching the tv or saw the lights in my room. He's just worried about me but his logic is ridiculous.

Yesterday I went on a balik kampong roadtrip. It was fun! I get to see my little cousins especially cute and bubbly little Cikah. I always wondered how it was like to have a small sister... Stayed there for 1 night only. Saw 2 common house lizards that was half a foot long (I've forgotten lizards even existed) And learned that lintah (forgot what it is in english) can be bred and sold!

I'm anxious about going to live in JB for 3 weeks. I don't know how I'm gonna deal staving off my desire to see my family. Made my choice, gonna stick with it.

Transfered 96.96% of my belongings to the hostel today. I was pretty anxious about moving yesterday. It's over and done now. So basically I've had several anxiety issues about everything that was already done and the ones that will be: missed exams, packing, moving, unpacking, packing, traveling, tons of important business to do while in KL, trip to JB, the dreaded clinical attachment to the hospital --of which I'm committed into doing.

I'm incoherent. I'm tired.

In need of doctors

It seems that Brunei is in dire need of doctors . The ratio for doctors to population in Brunei is about 1:800. That is a lot for one doctor to handle. I've been thinking about where I want to work when I finish my housemanship and pay off my student loans. Thinking of doing some sort of specialty too, but it all depends on how the situation goes in the future.

But first, finish off my 4th year exams... *Head-desk*

Dermatology finals this Saturday. I should be studying by now...

A couple of weeks ago, the university issued a rule that 4th and 5th year students must do a medical check-up. I did whatever they told us to do, (except the vaginal examination. Don't want to be poked and probed, thankyouverymuch) and as I thought it's all over, 2 days ago I was called to go to the clinic near the university. I had no idea what was it all about but I went there anyway. It turned out that I needed to take the medical booklet (that I've given back to them few weeks back), from the International department, proceed to pay 194rubles (kena bayar lagi! dah lah the previous medical check up cost around 800rubles!), the receipt and a container. For urine. First they ask for my shit, now they want my pee? Not only that, has there anyone EVER been in the office? It's closed and locked every single time I went there! On the door clearly says they work from 9am till 6 pm, but never once I went there it was open for business. Even this morning around at 10.30am, they're still not open. The reason why I stress about this too much is that I don't want to get into trouble. And I don't like it when we're told to do it before a dateline, masses of people started to do it at the same time.

Urgh.. whatever. I still need to study for finals.

I may be one of the few (or the only one with no life) who ever visited my university's Malaysian made website. And I noticed a few disparity between the university currently and the university that is depicted in the website.

Some of the information and pictures in the gallery are outdated.
Wrong, misleading information. For instance:

That is NOT Hostel N5. THAT is an abandoned supposed stomatology building adjacent to the university. The hostel doesn't look anything like that. They make it look like it's Hilton hotel. Big laugh.

From my perspective, the building has potential. The building looks complete, but it hasn't been used once in the past 5 years I've stayed here. Probably longer. I don't understand why they abandoned the project. I would loved it if is one of the medical faculty's academic buildings. It has more space than the current university is providing for the growing numbers of students. Lack of fundings, perhaps?

I found this picture in the gallery. This picture is 4 ½ years old back when I was still in preparatory faculty. We had a new students get together in a new Turkish restaurant.

I was surprised to see this picture with familiar faces.
So I thought I would like to point them out. Perez Hilton style.
I'm somewhere in the far back. Ha Ha.

The caption read "Students at cafeteria". It is me or it's like they're implying that the cafeteria is owned by the university?

Is this a perfect strategy to lure new students by giving them misleading (albeit outdated) information?

Get the facts right. The whole visit through the website is a horrible, horrible experience which leaves a permanent cringe-stamp on my face.

I have had excellent English vocabs back when I'm in secondary school. I wrote short stories, and my favourite part was creating this make believe people and describing their personalities in detail. I admit I wasn't much of a social butterfly, in fact, I was a recluse. So the improvements in my English vocabs were mostly due to reading books I borrowed from the library, and a book series from Francine Pascal called "Fearless". When majority of the students in my school would flock to the Malay books section during recess, I would be in the English section looking for books that I haven't read. I borrowed 2-3 books in a day, and could return them the very next day. I can get thrills from reading fictions.

If I ever talk my classmates or any of my schoolmates -- being the considerate person that I am -- I refrained from using big English words, 'cause I have confused many of them and I have been told that I've had been looked upon as pompous and arrogant.

When I came here, there are less English literature for me to devour, just medical textbooks that never seem to be of any use, except that thick Physiology book by Guyton, which unfortunately that I didn't have for the rest of 3rd year. By then in Kursk, I've been surrounded by "-lah""meh""mah""hor""ya meh?""dis my wan or your wan?". I'm not saying it's a degradatory thing. It completely influenced me in a great way -- when my social skills are non-existent -- I'm not able to converse in good English without adding a bit of a Malay word in there and finish with a "lah". And instead of confirming to a question with a "Are you sure?" I would reply with "Ya meh?"

I can't even write a proper story nowadays! I've been reduced from a girl who has her imaginations and her stories to keep herself happy to a girl who only has good imaginations.

Anyway, finally went to eat out in Italian cafe after our last pediatrics cycle. (1st Italian eat out in this semester!) Felt satisfied and contented with a full stomach. The cheesecake is oh-so-orgasmic and oh-so-cheap (relatively in sorta-high-class standards). While other cafes offer cheesecakes with prices over 100 rubles, Italian's offer theirs for 90 rubles (approximately 12 rm). Is this by far the cheapest cheesecakes? I'd like to know.
