"I'll have the lamb skank, please"

Vie's birthday was yesterday on the 30th August, but Teah and I weren't able to abduct her to go joyriding in my soccer mom wagon for her birthday celebration because Vie wasn't free on that day.

Today however, was the best day of my life, as yet (as quoted by Homer Simpson). Went to Capers, an Italian restaurant in Kiulap. I love the decor and the food was scrumptuous. Food portions are equally same as the Italian Cafe back in Kursk, so I was completely stuffed. We spent around hilarious 15 minutes looking through the menu, making fun of foreign sounding words and pronouncing names like Ravioli Al Funghi and Ring-a-ding-a-ling (sorry, that's a swensens menu.. but I love pronouncing it just for fun) . I mistakenly called Lamb (something-something) SKANK when it should have been shank.

I ordered:

Insalata Mistro. Salad with grilled auburgine, fresh tomatoes, olives, onions, and cucumbers. The auburgine is quite salty and they drizzled a bit too much olive oil.

Penne Arabiatto Pollo. Penne with grilled chicken. Quite spicy as there is those hot green chilis hidden under all the pasta. Didn't associate "Arabiatto" to be very spicy until I acciddently bite on a piece of green chilli and let the toxic juice seep onto my tongue.

Caper's Chocholate Salami. A scoop of vanilla ice cream with Pistachio, Cherries, Marshmellow etcetera etcetera topped with whip cream and chocolate syrup... I wondered why it is called Salami. Isn't that supposed to be a meat variety?

Rush all the way to The Mall, Gadong (that is so clichéd) to catch The Simpsons Movie at the Cineplex. Got into an embarassing debacle with the elevator. I got used to the fact in Russia, the ground floor of a building is the 1st floor and the 1st floor is the 2nd floor etcetera. The Cineplex is actually on the 3rd floor, but I had thought it was on the Russian 4th floor. The 4th floor in that building is a hotel which requires a card to go to, so I pressed the 4th floor a couple of times thinking the button was broken because it wasn't lit. 2 people went in the elevator after that and pressed the 3rd floor button which afterwards lit up. I had a good embarrased laugh and glared playfully but menacingly at Teah who didn't correct me (Didn't blame anybody ok!) We went in a bit late and missed 5 minutes. The movie is hilarious!

Grabbed an iced mocha in Swensen's again (for going 3 times in 7 days).

Went back to car and surprised Vie with her birthday gift -- a shark hand puppet (courtesy by Teah) and a no-idea-what-it-is black cat figurine which turns out either to be a paperclip disposer or a handphone holder (given by clueless me). Gave her the cute home-made card that I made (kambang sudah eh...) even before we wished her a happy belated birthday and apologised that we had nothing to give.

Sent Vie home and met her cute sleeping nephew. He's so adorable when he sleeps! Then sent Teah home and ran away with The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot (which she claims is hilarious), The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides and The Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger.

Read The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It's my favourite.
