I discovered today that Dom Knigi (House of Books) are selling books in ENGLISH!
I went there today with the sole purpose of finding an English-Russian Medical Dictionary. Up the stairs, turn left and when I was about to enter the main books section, something in my peripheral view caught my eye. 3 tall shelves full of English books. Hallelujah!
Okay, first reaction. I thought the books are from unknown or unpopular author because the books at my eye level was from a science fiction genre. Looked up, lo and behold, Chuck Palahniuk reigns. Instantly, I was internally combusting. I had to refrain myself from squealing and running around with arms awaving in the air. Grabbed "Fight Club" because there's only that and "Diary" - which I already have (courtesy from Teah, ILU!) Not only that, there are books from Sophie Kiensella (total chic lit that I wonder if I should try reading), Dean Koontz, John Grisham, Stephen King, and some other popular writers.. etcetera etcetera... And they even sell some books from some of the acclaimed Russian authors like Vladimir Nabokov...
So I bought Nabokov's Lolita for 394 rubles (yes, I know it's kinda perverted, but it's a famous classic! and I'm a big girl, so there!) and Fight Club for 393 rub. Worth it? Yea ah!
They didn't have the medical dictionary though, but it was worth my money. Initially, I wanted to buy a top to spoil myself after browsing for medical books. But know this my friends -
BOOKS TRUMP CLOTHES. EVERYTIME.

Sights of today
Today as I went out and passed by my university, I saw a fleet of fire engines in front of the university compound. I was astounded to see firemen dragged fire hoses out of the main door. I didn't see anything wrong from outside so I figured that fire broke out somewhere inside the building. But then, it might have been a fire drill.A fleet of fire engines don't just park themselves in the university compound for just a fire drill now do they? Wondered what happened...

Can't study...
For 3 days no water, hot and cold. Dirty laundry piling up. Massive headche due to shock of cold water collected the night before. Drinking water depleting. Shop at first floor closed due to unknown reasons. Cold wind howling through the window pane. Thick snow covering the ground. Weather going below -10 degrees.
I'm feeling miserable.
I fcuking hate this place.

Post office blues
I hate going to the post office. Why? Long lines and incompetent workers. There are only 2 counters for letter sending (and receiving) and man, they sure work slow. And the language barrier - don't even go there. And why have they never heard of Brunei?! (...okay, maybe that's not their fault... =.=)
The weather suddenly turned cold! *sniffles*

Syawal
Finally did my last exam for 4th year Therapy, on the first day of Syawal. I had a short class, went to exam. Hope I pass it, cause I can't bear to think about sitting for it again soon.
Need to catch up on the curriculum, I haven't done a single summer elective examination because I lost the elective record book and had to get a new one. Have to finish up writing assignment for pediatrics by hand, finish up the summer elective diary log. I have to study up (a storm!) for pediatrics finals this saturday, finish up my atrabotka for E.N.T (because the atrabotka is tough!).. blah blah..
Raya is no fun without family and friends. Family, most important. Without them raya is like any other day. I miss them
Finally tasted the infamous burgers from American Saloon in Green. A wee bit pricey for a burger, but oh well, what to do? That's the only joint which make proper burgers ever sold in Kursk town. Sad, but true. True, and delicious. Yum.
Yesterday night, went out to eat in Tolstyak. Ate their pizzas which I absolutely love...to eat. Strolled along Lenin street in high heels (practicing for Raya function next week .. haha), adoring the night lights of Kursk, cooing starry-eyed at expensive motorcycle totting dudes speed racing from one end of Lenin street to the other *sigh*... I wish the weather would stay this way.

New diet plan, out the window. Tsk.

#817
I'm back in Kursk. Seriously, I felt like bawling my eyes out leaving my family behind. Even lining up forhe check in were fun. My brothers and I talk about everything like we always do. Miss them!
Ugh... I can't send messages to brunei or singapore number I dunno why and It's frustrating.
whaat's even frustrating is when I open the door to my room I was greeted by a potential heap of mess. I don't know how my roomate lives like this. And just today I decided to rearrange the room myself. Screw help. If my romate doesnt like the new arangement then she should just bear with it till she graduates. Nak harapkan dia entah bile boleh siap rearrange.
One more thing, THERE'S NO FREAKING HOT WATER! WTH?!!
serious la bodoh tempat ni.
my first cycle was Psychiatry in rural Iskra. It started last monday and obviously i didn't go until the 5th day. Although, I find psychiatry interesting. The teacher told us that the reason why the facility is in faraway rural area is because they house the sociaplly dangerous people 0.0 (and to prevent them from escaping too far) And next year we're gonna see the patients and some, behind locked doors.. eeeeee-- exciting!
No internet connection yet. Im using my phone to online. I feel so lost without internet =.=
oh oh, Thai airways is the best!

Crisp and Cool
I had a three days holiday over the weekend. On the 9th May in Russia is Heroes' day something to commemorate the war heroes in WWII (С день Победы)
The weather is great -- the sun is shining, the air is clear and the wind is cool. I have ideas on how to spend the whole holiday outside, frolicking in the sun etcetera etcetera... instead I'm cooped in my cold room most of the time... -.-
Tomorrow is Surgery cycle!
And I have about 1 month until finals!

CD-Ve
I went out in this beautiful weather to buy CD-RW nearby. The exchange went out like this (in russian):
Me: U vas est CD-RW? (Do you have CD-RW?)
Salesgirl: Shto? *confused* (What?)
Me: CD-RW?
Salesgirl: CD? *Looking at her friend*
Me: Nyet. CD-RW (No. CD-RW) *looking for a better explanation*
Salesgirl: Shto eta takoe. (What is that?) *looking at me one kind*
Me: *Raise eyebrows and pointing to the display cases of CDs*
Salesgirl: CD-R?
Me: *exasperated* Nyet, CD-RW (No, CD-RW)
Salesgirl: *taking out a CD-R* U nas est CD-R (We have CD-R)
Me: *pointing at CD* Eta CD-R, mne nuzhna CD-RW (That's CD-R, I need CD-RW)
Salesgirl: Aaah, CD-V (Pronounced as Ve)
Me: Uh, Da. *giving her the WTF face*
WTF. Why do russians have to literally translate the W to V? What does the V stands for in CD-RW then? CD-Vritable? Or CD-Vipishi (it means write in ranglish--student's russian language)? Why can't they just leave the W alone?! (I'm obviously ranting pointlessly, thankyouverymuch)
Anyway, finally went to eat out in Italian cafe after our last pediatrics cycle. (1st Italian eat out in this semester!) Felt satisfied and contented with a full stomach. The cheesecake is oh-so-orgasmic and oh-so-cheap (relatively in sorta-high-class standards). While other cafes offer cheesecakes with prices over 100 rubles, Italian's offer theirs for 90 rubles (approximately 12 rm). Is this by far the cheapest cheesecakes? I'd like to know.

Horror~!
Once upon a time, a 20 something year old bought a bun from a nearby kiosk. He took off the plastic wrapper and tear off a piece from the bread. He discovered, to his horror, a brown colored cockroach settling nicely inside with its head torn off relieving the pest's cheesy-looking innards.
He lost his appetite for bread soon after.
Ew.
